Factory Records was the crucible of some fine recordings, most notably by Joy Division and New Order, at the end of the 1970's and early eighties that continue to exert their influence on the musical landscape. Presided over by the flamboyant Tony Wilson, the label showcased innovative music that was not always a realistic commercial proposition, and coupled this with a dynmaic visual aesthetic.
