Robert Fludd (1574-1637) was an influential alchemist, occultist and astrologer. The diagram is his representation of the human mental faculties in what may be considered an early attempt at identifying cerebral localisation. It was originally published between 1617-21 in his Utriusque Cosmi, Maioris scilicet et Minoris, metaphysica, physica, atque technica Historia (The metaphysical, physical, and technical history of the two worlds, namely the greater and the lesser.)
