The legend of Robin Hood has endured down the centuries, and he represents an attractive archetype that embodies the desire for social justice and freedom, and also draws on the mythology of the greenwood and a prelapsarian existence. The illustration is by the American illustrator Newell Convers Wyeth for an edition of Robin Hood published in 1917.
